These plugins are actively developed experimental tools and a personal R&D playground where I explore real-time MIDI interaction, audio workflows, and creative visual systems. NyxFX is currently a one-person project developed alongside full-time work, so progress is iterative and continuous.

At the moment, builds target Windows only, with macOS support planned next.

Detailed Info

The VST3 VFX Engine! It's a multithreaded, real-time, multi-pass shader pipeline for midi-based effects. It includes a way to export videos, so each frame is synchronized with the beats. Additionally, it includes a dynamic parameter registration system in order to automate effects.

It was originally built as a visual event map when importing my own music into DaVinci for synchronizing effects. I kept prototyping it out as my needs and interests changed. If you love tweaking and fiddling around, then you'll enjoy this. Check out the walkthrough videos for guidance on how to use it. The menu system is deep.

In Reaper, I found myself using ChordGun quite a bit for playing around with progressions. It's a good tool, but it's also limited, in that you can't easily switch from one key to the next, the chords are fixed, and you can't organize custom progressions. I wanted a tool that I could visualize the relationships, make fast-paced selections, have a flexible layout, create custom progressions, and even have chord stacking.

The Virtual Guitar. It's not a sampler, but a midi piano roll alternative! It annoys me to no end that there's no piano roll alternative in DAWs (that I've seen). As a guitarist, I feel especially frustrated because I want to interact with midi using a fretboard for documentation and pedagogical reasons.

I started working on this when learning some NES tunes from midi files. I wanted a way to document how I was transposing midi sections and found the piano roll tiring to use. This project is still in development. A test version is on the way. If you're interested in becoming a tester, then please e-mail me at nyxfx.dev@gmail.com.
